USE OF DOG CONDITIONER/MASK

Is it important to use a conditioner/mask when grooming a dog?

The short answer is that it is necessary to use a conditioner or mask after bathing our dog, but also that some dogs need it and benefit more than others.
The frequency of grooming and the type of products used depend on the breed, the health of the coat and skin, and the lifestyle of the dog. The shampoo is used to remove dirt from the skin and coat. However, shampoo by itself does not "seal" the pet's hair, resulting in possible "loss" of oils that are necessary for the hydration of the skin and coat. So, the use of the right product (conditioner/mask) after shampooing can "seal" the hair and restore hydration, moisture, and elasticity.

What is a dog conditioner?

The pet conditioner/mask supplements shampoos, is applied after shampooing, and in addition to restoring moisture, it also helps restore normal hair damage and breakage, it makes the coat softer and adds shine.

Benefits of dog conditioner

Some of the benefits of a dog conditioner/mask are:

  • It supplements the shampoo, restores moisture, and makes the skin and hair smooth.
  • It "repairs" the coat and makes the skin more elastic. The conditioner’s function is to restore the oils that shampoo might "remove" from a dog's skin during the bathing process. In this way, a conditioner nourishes and repairs a dog's hair and skin. Especially in the case of very dirty or muddy dogs, it is necessary to use it to restore the oils that were "removed" during an intensive bath.
  • It helps remove "dead" hair during grooming and facilitates the release of "dead" coat.
  • It helps detangle the coat painlessly, especially in long-haired breeds.
  • It nourishes and gives shine to the coat.
  • It reduces static electricity.

A good bath accompanied using a dog conditioner/mask relaxes our dog and offers a sense of comfort. At the same time, it helps to better ventilate the body, thus indirectly protecting against excess moisture that can lead to possible unwanted odors and microorganism formation on the skin and coat.
